The ICS Cornet Evolution

One special part of a Sister's Habit is the "headpeace" Each house has their own interpretation and name for this part of the Habit. It sets each of us apart and each has its own story and history.

The San Fransisco Sisters wimple is also commonly called, "ear-boobs" while the Los Angeles house has named theirs the "hoobie-doobie"

Indiana refers to our head gear as the ICS Cornette. Below is a breif history of our Cornette.

The First ICS Coronet
The Shimmering Silo

The First ICS Cornet, affectionately known as the Shimmering Silo. Created early on in the history of ICS. Taking inspiration from the many grain silos located all around Indiana. Unfortunatley, in theory this was a great idea, but in practice we found the silo was in fact far to cumbersome and any amount of wind resulted in Nuns losing their tops! ICS began working on a new Coronet.
ICS Still has the original prototype Shimmering Silo saved inside of its archives.

The ICS Coronet

The second ICS Cornett. This version still in use, took inspiration from the crown of Nefertiti, and other medieval coronets, and using inspiration from the shapes of the torch from the Indiana State Flag. There have been several variants created over time, but the general shape has remained unchanged.

A Version worn by Sister Purrr uses Gold in place of the silver trim and embellishments.
There were Orange and a Violet versions created as Gifts to the Co-Moms Unity, and Faegala and gifted during our Exequatur celebration.
An All-White and Silver Version was created for the Sisters 40th Anniversary Celebration. Sister Purrr modeled this during the All-White Processional during the 40th Anniversary week. It was then Gifted to the San Francisco archives for their exhibit Wimples of the World. The units were on display during the week of the 40th Anniversary. (photo at the top of the page)
